New blog

So I've recently had some flashes of inspiration and changes in my life that are positive. I feel like I've come to know myself a bit better through this process and have rekindled an old love that I've had most of my life. I've always loved drawing, but haven't really nurtured and fed that fire the last 10 years or so. I've doodled and sketched here and there during various meetings. And when I find myself in the right type of resturaunts where the table cloth is actually paper, and they provide crayons. Otherwise I had a good friend that really helped me to remember the love I have inside of me for drawing. You should check out his blog here: http://melmade.blogspot.com/

Take a minute and look at this guy. His name is Mel Milton, and you can't help but be impressed and smiling when looking at his art. And if you ever get the chance to meet Mel, forget about it. You'll be won over within' minutes and feel like you have a old best friend you just met. He's been a mentor to me, and an inspiration in his artwork.

With that said, here are some drawings that I've been posting. I've been trying to post one a day on Facebook. I don't know how long that will last, but it's been fun, and I don't intend on stopping.

This one is inspired by Ana Bagayan. She's really an amazing
illustrator/artist, most of her subjects have very large beautiful eyes.

A little eye work. Something I need work on.

This is Captain Barnacles from the Disney show Octonauts. My 5 year old
has the toys, so I drew it from the toy you see here.

This was inspired by the artist "Buff Monsters". All of these were inked with a
Faber Castell brush pen by the way. Just got it a couple weeks ago, and I love it.

Cyclops with no nose...I like drawing freaky monsters.

Here's another drawing from a character off of the cartoon Octonauts.
Drawn again from a toy that my 5 year old has. Kwazi the pirate-cat.

This one just came out...my brother says maybe a Jed Clampet/Pinochio hybrid? Sure.

The skate goblin...I grew up skateboarding. Wouldn't mind having some art on a skateboard one day. Grew up loving all the Powell Peralta and various skate art like Slime Ball wheels. Great artwork out there.

Wanted to draw a kind of iconic style of person. Need to do more of these that represent the various modern styles that exists right now. This is a hipster-ish kind of fellow.

Anyway, that does it for my first entry. I'm not going to be posting near this many things again...I think. But I wanted to get the items that I've started drawing since my rebirth into drawing again.

Bring on the critiques, comments, questions, etc.
